Day 4 Munich - Salzburg - Vienna - 8/10

We made our way to Salzburg - Mozart's birth place. Ride up to
the heights of Hohensalzburg for spectacular views of the city and an Austrian lunch,
followed by a guided tour of this charming city. |

The local Austrian tour guide hilited to us all the locations
used in the film, The Sound of Music and the story about Von Trapp family. |
|
|
|
|
|
| Then continue our route lies past Mondsee Lake and on to Vienna,
the once great capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In the evening, of course we joined
the optional excursion program, a wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including
some of the most famous works of Johann Struss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by
some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. |

Day 5 - Vienna - 9/10

A guided visit to the Imperial residence of Schonbrunn, with its
magnificently preserved state rooms and exquisite garden really create a deep impression
and appreciation of Europe in us. As shown in the photo, no camera is allowed in the
palace, we have to appreciate the beauty of the palace with our eyes only. |

We have the whole afternoon free to roam around Vienna. We
visited the State Opera House (Staatsoper) and Neue Hofburg (New Palace). Stroll through
Volksgarten where the
Art Nouveau memorial to Austria's most famous Empress
Elisabeth, "Sissi" . Followed by sculpture-adorned Parliament building
and Rathaus - an intriguing remnant of late 19th century neo-Gothic with Victorian mansard
roofs and red geraniums in the windows. |

In the evening we took a walk at Rose Garden near to our hotel,
then drove to the outskirts of the city and to the edge of the Vienna Woods for a
'relaxing' evening in one of the traditional 'Heuriges' or wine taverns where we sample
the local vintage - also known as 'heurige'! A delicious dinner of Austrian specialties
served to us while local musician entertain us with his 'Schrammelmusik' - we joined in
the Viennese tradition which has taken place for almost 200 years. |
